Curtain Wall Glass Specification Checklist for Architects and Buyers
A curtain wall glass order should translate design intent into a complete, buildable and inspectable specification. Missing coating surfaces, unclear heat treatment or undefined visual criteria can delay approvals and create avoidable disagreement. Use this checklist at design development, tender and pre-production stages.
1. Define the complete glass make-up
Write the build-up from exterior to interior. Include substrate, thickness, heat treatment, coating or frit surface, laminate interlayer, cavity width, gas fill, spacer, sealants and overall nominal thickness.

2. State performance and design inputs
Provide design wind loads, panel dimensions, support conditions, thermal and solar targets, safety classification, acoustic requirements and any security or impact criteria.
Performance values must correspond to the complete assembly. Structural calculations should reflect support, aspect ratio, load duration and project standard.
3. Control appearance and fabrication
Define colour reference, reflectance, frit pattern, viewing conditions and mock-up process. List edgework, holes, notches, cut-outs, heat-soak testing and ceramic printing.

4. Align quality, documents and logistics
