Glass Performance

The structural, safety, thermal, solar, optical and acoustic criteria used to evaluate a complete glazing assembly.
Glass Performance
02

Performance criteria

Evaluate the complete glazing assembly.

Performance values depend on the whole build-up, support system and calculation or test method. A value published for one pane should not be applied automatically to an insulating unit, window or façade.

01

Structural

Design pressure, support, glass strength, allowable stress, deflection, duration and load combination.

02

Safety

Impact classification, breakage pattern, post-breakage retention, overhead risk and fall protection.

03

Thermal & solar

U-value, SHGC or g-value, shading coefficient, visible transmission and surface temperatures.

04

Optical

Exterior reflection, colour, distortion, haze, anisotropy, coating appearance and visual mock-ups.

05

Acoustic

Rw or STC target, spectrum adaptation terms, pane asymmetry, interlayer and complete-frame performance.

06

Durability

Edge exposure, seal compatibility, temperature, moisture, altitude, cleaning and service environment.
